Manager, State Tax Audits

Position Purpose: Responsible for managing the sales/use tax audit function. Responsible for managing end to end sales tax controversy strategy and execution, which leverages both internal and external resources. May be responsible in specific instances for research, compliance, reputed company and/or audit defense, as well as special projects and cross-functional teams. Key Responsibilities:

• 60% reputed company, Research, Compliance, Audit Defense, and Government Relations as needed to meet the goals of the Department. May serve as principal contact on one or more projects with governmental officials, reputed company counsel, and business partners. reputed company special studies to determine tax and legal risk implications of company operations. Responsible for ensuring the accurate and timely documentation of legal/technical analysis supporting ASC 450.
• 20% Participation on cross-functional teams serving as a subject-matter expert. advisor.
• 20% Coaching and mentoring of associates in the department.

Direct Manager/Direct Reports: Reports to Director – Indirect Tax. Travel Requirements: Typically requires overnight travel less than 10% of the time. Physical Requirements: Most of the time is spent sitting in a comfortable position and there is frequent opportunity to move about. On rare occasions there may be a need to move or lift light articles. Working Conditions: Located in a comfortable indoor area. Any unpleasant conditions would be infrequent and not objectionable. Minimum Qualifications:

• Must be eighteen years of age or older.
• Must be legally permitted to work in the United States.

Preferred Qualifications:

• 5-8 years’ experience preferred.
• Experience in tax legal matters including sales tax audit and controversy resolution, tax policy and legal research and analysis.
• Demonstrate technical tax skills appropriate for the years of experience in the one or more tax disciplines. Demonstrate leadership and interpersonal skills, including the ability to manage and implement multiple reputed company projects, people management, and communications to both technical and non-technical audiences. Proven analytical and problem resolution skills.
• Experience with legal/technical analysis supporting ASC 450.

Minimum Education: 4 year College Degree Minimum Years of Work Experience: 5 Certifications:

• CPA or CMI preferred but not required.
