About the Role

We are looking for a hands-on AI Engineer to take ownership of improving, restructuring, and stabilising an existing AI-powered voice platform built on ElevenLabs. This is a highly autonomous contract role focused on assessing a problematic current setup, defining best-practice architecture and operational standards, and implementing improvements end-to-end. You will work closely with a small internal team to improve reliability, scalability, integrations, and reporting across the platform. The role is best suited to someone who is highly independent, pragmatic, and comfortable operating in fast-paced environments with minimal oversight. You should be confident making technical decisions, solving complex integration challenges, and delivering production-ready improvements quickly. This is a 3–6 month engagement with a strong focus on execution, optimisation, and operational stability. \n

Responsibilities

Assess the current ElevenLabs environment and identify gaps, inefficiencies, and scalability issues. Define and implement best-practice architecture and operational standards for: Call agent configuration Estate management Reporting and operational visibility Plan and execute migration activities from the current implementation to an improved target-state architecture. Optimise and stabilise AI voice workflows and integrations. Identify and recommend the most suitable middleware solutions for client integrations and operational workflows. Create clear technical blueprints, operational procedures, and SOP documentation for ongoing platform management. Troubleshoot and resolve issues across AI workflows, integrations, and automation processes. Improve system reliability, maintainability, and operational efficiency across the platform. Work closely with internal stakeholders to prioritise improvements and deliver practical solutions quickly. Contribute ideas for automation and process improvements using AI-driven tooling and workflows.

Requirements

Strong hands-on experience working with ElevenLabs in production environments. Proven experience configuring, optimising, and troubleshooting ElevenLabs voice agents and workflows. Experience defining best practices for ElevenLabs deployments, including call agent configuration, reporting, and estate management. Strong understanding of integrations, APIs, and middleware-driven architectures. Experience working with Twilio or similar telephony/contact centre platforms. Ability to independently assess existing systems and implement scalable technical improvements. Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving capabilities across cloud-based and AI-powered systems. Experience documenting technical solutions, standards, and operational procedures. Comfortable operating with high ownership and minimal supervision. Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders. Ability to balance rapid execution with long-term maintainability and operational stability.

Nice to Have

Experience with workflow automation tools such as Zapier, Make, or n8n. Exposure to VB Scripts or legacy automation environments. Experience building or improving AI-powered customer support or call agent systems. Familiarity with operational reporting and analytics for AI voice platforms. Experience delivering short-term transformation or remediation projects. Understanding of AI operations, workflow optimisation, or conversational AI tooling.
